The short answer. The Saudi tourist eVisa allows Umrah outside the Hajj season. It is valid for one year with multiple entries and stays of up to 90 days, so it suits Umrah on its own, Umrah combined with visiting family, or more than one trip in a year. It is not a Hajj visa. The Hajj season, when Umrah on this visa is not permitted, runs from 25 Dhu al-Qi'dah to 13 Dhu al-Hijjah each year: in 2027, roughly 2 to 19 May.
Who can use the tourist eVisa for Umrah
Citizens of the 68 countries eligible for the tourist eVisa, listed in our eligibility guide. Holders of a valid US, UK or Schengen visa whose nationality is not on the list may still qualify; write to us before paying anything and we will tell you.
The application is the same as for any tourist eVisa: the same documents, the same price, the same review. Our form does not ask the purpose of your trip.
The Hajj-season window
The Islamic calendar sets the window, so the dates move about eleven days earlier each year and the exact days are fixed by the sighting of the moon.
| Year | Hajj season (Umrah not permitted on the tourist eVisa) | Approximate dates |
|---|---|---|
| 1448 AH | 25 Dhu al-Qi'dah to 13 Dhu al-Hijjah | 2 to 19 May 2027 |
| 1449 AH | 25 Dhu al-Qi'dah to 13 Dhu al-Hijjah | 20 April to 8 May 2028 |
Outside the window, Umrah on the tourist eVisa is allowed. Inside it, it is not, and Hajj itself requires a Hajj visa, which we do not provide. Plan the trip so that your dates fall before 25 Dhu al-Qi'dah or after 13 Dhu al-Hijjah.
Ramadan
Ramadan is the busiest time of the year for Umrah. In 2027 it runs from about 8 February to 8 March. Apply two or three weeks ahead rather than one: the airlines and the hotels fill up, and a correction to a document is easier to make with time in hand.
Families and groups
One order on saudivisavisit.com covers up to nine travellers. Every traveller needs their own eVisa, including every child under 18, and each is charged the per-traveller price. You add each traveller to the same order, upload each passport page and photo, and pay once. A person on our team checks every file before anything is submitted.
What the tourist eVisa does not cover
- Hajj. Hajj always requires a Hajj visa, obtained through the official channels for your country.
- Umrah during the Hajj-season window above.
- Work or study in Saudi Arabia.
Combining Umrah with the rest of a trip
Because the eVisa allows multiple entries over a year, it suits trips that mix Umrah with the rest of the country: Makkah and Madinah, then family in Jeddah or Riyadh, or a second visit later in the year. Each stay can last up to 90 days. Our validity guide explains how the dates work.
How to apply
- Fill in the form online. Nationality, arrival date, length of stay, and for each traveller the passport photo page and a recent photo on a white background.
- We check your application. A person on our team reviews each passport, photo and your details before anything is submitted, and emails you if something needs fixing.
- You receive your eVisa by email, one file per traveller, once it is issued. Keep a copy on your phone or print it.
